Punjab, December 30:
Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced that all eight recent bomb blasts targeting police installations in the state have been successfully resolved.
In a statement shared via social media, DGP Yadav revealed that 14 individuals affiliated with the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) had been apprehended. He highlighted that these arrests have foiled a conspiracy orchestrated by Pakistan’s ISI and terrorist groups to disrupt peace in Punjab.
Five terrorist modules were found to be responsible for the incidents, with handlers operating from Pakistan, the United States, Canada, and Europe. Of these, three modules were linked to BKI, while the remaining two were associated with KZF. The police recovered two AK-47 rifles, five grenades, two Glock pistols, and 1.04 kilograms of heroin during the investigation.
Details of the Blast Incidents (2024):
- November 23: A 1.5 kg Improvised Explosive Device was planted at Ajnala police station.
- November 29: An explosion occurred near an abandoned police check post in Gurbaksh Nagar, Amritsar, at 11 PM.
- December 2: A grenade attack was reported at Ansaro police post, Nawanshahr, but the grenade was defused without detonating.
- December 4: A grenade blast shattered windows at Majitha police station, Amritsar.
- December 13: A grenade was thrown near the entrance of Ghania Ke Bangar police station, Batala, but it failed to explode.
- December 17: A powerful explosion near Islamabad police station, Amritsar, occurred at 3 AM, linked to BKI and gangster Jeevan Fauji.
- December 18: A grenade blast targeted the Bakshiwala police check post in Kalanaur, Gurdaspur.
- December 20: Another grenade blast was reported at Wadala Bangar police check post, Kalanaur, Gurdaspur.
Key Findings:
- RDX and Austrian-made Arges grenades, transported from Pakistan using drones, were used in the blasts. These grenades were previously employed in the 1993 Mumbai bombings and the 2001 Indian Parliament attack.
- The grenades appeared to originate from Pakistan’s old military stock, according to Punjab Police.
- The blasts primarily targeted police chowkis and abandoned police check posts.
DGP Yadav confirmed that Pakistan-based terror groups, including BKI led by Harvinder Rinda and KZF led by Ranjit Singh Neeta, orchestrated the attacks. These groups leveraged local gangsters and drug smugglers to recruit and radicalize youths for the strikes.
Foreign operatives such as Happy Passian, Happy Jat, Gopi Ghanshampuria, Jeewan Fauji, and Gurdev Jassal were also implicated in the conspiracy.
DGP Yadav urged the public to remain vigilant against such threats, emphasizing the importance of community alertness in maintaining law and order in the region.
