Jalandhar, January 22:
A tragic accident occurred on the Jalandhar-Pathankot Highway when a Punjab Roadways bus ran over several people. The bus was heading from Pathankot to Jalandhar, and the incident caused significant chaos at the scene.
According to reports, the bus hit a motorcycle, a street vendor, and another person. Following the incident, police officers arrived at the location and initiated an investigation. The accident was so severe that one person lost their life, and two others were critically injured and taken to the hospital.
The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Mohinder Singh, a resident of Kala Bakkra village. Police officer Narinder Singh and his team reached the scene, seized the bus, and began their investigation.
According to the police, the motorcycle rider and the street vendor were among those hit by the bus, and the motorcyclist died on the spot. After the accident, the bus driver fled the scene. The bus was reportedly coming from Pathankot to Jalandhar. Following the incident, the passengers were transferred to another bus. The deceased’s body was sent to the Civil Hospital’s morgue.
Some locals have alleged that the bus driver was under the influence of alcohol during the incident. However, the police have declined to comment on this matter.
