Patiala, February 10:
Seven rocket shells were discovered in a garbage dump on Rajpura Road in Patiala on Saturday afternoon, causing alarm among local residents.
According to officials, the police received information about suspicious objects at the site, following which a search operation was conducted. Upon inspection, multiple rocket ammunition were found lying in the dump.
Authorities suspect that the ammunition may have been left there by a scrap dealer, as the area is commonly used for waste disposal. “Preliminary investigation suggests that a scrap dealer had left these here as it is a garbage dump,” said Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nanak Singh while addressing the media.
Security forces have cordoned off the area, and an investigation is underway to determine the source of the ammunition and any possible security threats. Further updates are awaited as officials continue their probe.
