Punjab, February 24:
As the Punjab Assembly session approaches, Leader of the Opposition Partap Bajwa has claimed that 32 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs are in contact with him, expressing their interest in shifting to the Congress party.
Unfulfilled Promises and Government Criticism
Bajwa criticized the Punjab government, accusing it of failing to deliver on its pre-election promises, including the monthly honorarium of ₹1,000 for women. He alleged that the government is deliberately delaying its implementation, leaving the public disappointed.
Congress MLA Pargat Singh also criticized the AAP government, stating that it is unwilling to conduct extended Assembly sessions. He further claimed that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann could soon be replaced by the party’s leadership.
AAP’s Setback in Delhi Sparks Leadership Concerns
After AAP’s defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections, party supremo Arvind Kejriwal has summoned Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and state MLAs to a meeting at Kapurthala House in Delhi. The party, which had been in power in Delhi for a decade, suffered a blow as the BJP secured 48 seats, while AAP managed only 22.
The timing of the meeting has fueled speculation, with the BJP alleging that it is aimed at removing Bhagwant Mann from the Chief Minister’s post. However, AAP maintains that the meeting is focused on analyzing the party’s electoral setbacks and devising a strategy for the future.
