Mumbai, January 17:

Over 30 hours after the stabbing of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan in his upscale Bandra apartment, the Mumbai police have yet to apprehend the perpetrator. Authorities have deployed 20 teams and activated their network of informants to track down the assailant.

According to officials, both the local police and the crime branch are working together, leveraging technical data to identify how many mobile devices were active in the vicinity during the attack. The incident, which has been described as a burglary attempt, occurred in the “Satguru Sharan” building early Thursday morning.

Forensic teams, along with a dog squad, have collected evidence from the actor’s residence and the building premises. Searches have been conducted across Mumbai in an effort to locate the suspect.

The 54-year-old actor sustained six stab wounds, including one to his neck, during the attack, which took place around 2:30 am. Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. Doctors have confirmed that he is now stable but remains hospitalized.

CCTV footage from the building shows the assailant, armed with a wooden stick and a Hexa blade, fleeing the scene at 2:33 am. The suspect, a young man dressed in a brown collared T-shirt and a red scarf, was seen descending the stairs from the sixth floor. Khan’s apartment is located on the 12th floor.

In addition to Khan, two others were injured in the incident: 56-year-old nurse Eliyama Philip, who is the complainant in the case, and a domestic staff member. Philip reportedly encountered the armed intruder first. According to her statement, the attacker demanded ₹1 crore and warned her not to make any noise, saying, “Koi awaaz nahin.”

Hearing Philip’s screams, Khan and his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan rushed out of their room. The attacker, whom Philip described as being between 35 and 40 years old, then assaulted Khan with the blade. The family, including the couple’s two sons, Jeh (4) and Taimur (8), and their household staff, were all present in the apartment at the time of the incident.

Investigators believe the intruder entered the apartment discreetly at some point during the night with the intention of committing a robbery. Efforts to trace and apprehend the suspect are ongoing.
